How are the cameras tested?
Each camera is carefully tested to ensure it functions as expected for its age and design. We shoot with every camera, review the results, and check for key operational features.
For example, when testing a 35mm SLR, we:
- Shoot a full roll of film to verify shutter speeds, aperture settings, and ISO functionality.
- Test the light meter for accuracy.
- Inspect for mechanical issues such as film advance problems.
However, some aspects—such as light seals or minor cosmetic flaws—may not always be replaced or fully tested unless they visibly affect performance. If a camera has any untested or aging components, this will always be mentioned in the listing and reflected in the price and grading.
This approach allows us to provide a variety of cameras at different price points, so you can choose the right balance between condition and budget. Rest assured, any issues that would significantly impact usability are fully accounted for in our descriptions.
Who do you ship with and why?
We ship exclusively with Royal Mail, as they provide reliable delivery and detailed tracking, ensuring your camera reaches you safely. While minor delays can happen, a small wait is better than uncertainty.
In the rare case of a missing parcel, Royal Mail offers full compensation, and we will ensure you receive a full refund if an issue arises.
Why are our prices higher?
We understand our prices may be slightly above average, but there’s a good reason for this.
- Every camera listed on our website is fully tested, meaning film cameras are put through a real-world shooting test, and digital cameras are tested with the correct battery and charger for that model.
- Some sellers list cameras as "working" without actually testing them. We take the time to verify key functions, so you’re not left with surprises.
- Certain models will be priced lower if some aspects are untested (e.g., older light seals or minor quirks that don’t affect performance). This gives you flexibility in choosing a camera that suits your needs and budget.
Additionally, each order is hand-packed with care, ensuring your camera arrives in the best possible condition—because we know the disappointment of receiving a poorly packaged item.
We aim to remove the uncertainty from buying vintage cameras, so you can shop with confidence.
When do we reply to messages?
Our response hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM (excluding bank holidays and national holidays).
You can reach us via Email or Instagram, and we’ll do our best to respond as quickly as possible within our available hours.
What is our return policy?
We do not accept general returns, but we stand by the quality of our cameras.
Because these are vintage items, we ensure that each one is tested appropriately for its condition. However, in the rare event that we miss something significant, we will offer a refund upon return of the item, and we will cover the return shipping costs.
If a parcel is lost or damaged due to a courier issue (Royal Mail), we will ensure you receive full compensation as soon as possible.
Peace of Mind When Buying Vintage
We get it—buying a vintage camera can feel like a leap of faith. You might worry about hidden issues or paying too much for an untested item. That’s why we grade our cameras transparently, reflecting both condition and level of testing in the price.
- Want a fully tested, ready-to-shoot camera? Look for those graded A or higher.
- Looking for a bargain or a project camera? A B or C-grade model may be a great choice, and we’ll always tell you what to expect.
We aim to take the guesswork and stress out of buying vintage cameras, so you can focus on what matters—shooting and enjoying film photography.
